About this property

Chimings is a light, airy, and contemporary bungalow resting in Rock, Cornwall. With a secluded and enclosed, south-facing garden, and resting a walk from local amenities and the splendid sandy beaches at Rock, Daymer and Polzeath, Chimings offers a wonderful base for families and friends, accommodating up to six guests. Recently refurbished and extended, Chimings is a warm and welcoming place to holiday, complete with an open-plan living space, with a plush sofa, large table, and a well-equipped kitchen, flooded with natural light through the patio doors; enjoy this attractive space to cook, eat and socialise. Carry the conversation into the sunny sitting room, with its roof lantern, woodburning stove, leather sofas and armchairs, or follow the mellow oak flooring, which runs through much of the property, towards the patio doors, reaching the pretty, back garden, where children and pets can safely play; views of lush Cornish countryside can be seen on the far horizon. Three bedrooms complete the home, including a super-king-size with en-suite, and two twins, all serviced by a bathroom and cloakroom. From your relaxing bolthole, you can venture out to explore and experience the best that North Cornwall has to offer. Walk across Porthilly beach to Rock, with its sailing club, ski school, renowned golf courses and shops, cafes, and restaurants to take advantage of. Beautiful coastal walks lead downriver, past endless sand dunes to Brae Hill and Daymer Bay; a lovely beach for young children, swimmers of any age, and energetic windsurfers on a breezy day. Visit Polzeath for the ultimate surfer's beach, ideal for all abilities with a fun holiday atmosphere, or take the ferry across the estuary to bustling Padstow and the Camel Trail, ending your time by sampling the famous sparkling wines at the Camel vineyard. All of this awaits at Chimings.

Rock is a desirable and much sought after coastal village located on the north eastern bank of the River Camel opposite the famous harbour town of Padstow which is easily reached by a regular ferry service. The summer home of royalty and celebrities offering top class restaurants and quality shops, the real draw is the array of watersports including sailing, water skiing, windsurfing and angling. Continuing on a sporting theme, the golf course at nearby St Enodoc is considered to be one of the best in the country. With an abundance of world class beaches all within a short radius it is easy to see why Rock holds its popularity.

Great to see kitchen had been refitted after our last visit 2 years ago and the new kitchen is a big improvement particularly as it’s the first impression you have when you enter the property. Lots of windows. Light and spacious. Very pretty garden. Not overlooked. Two points to note: 1. Central Heating - because of slightly chilly weather, it would have been nice for the CH to be operating AM and PM but there were no instructions provided on how to operate the system or any information about the system being pre-set by the owner so, we presume, it was unchangeable. We therefore had to resort to using the individual plug in electric heaters provided which seemed a waste of energy. The fact these are provided indicates the air source heating is not up to the job! 2. There were no instructions for the microwave which was not obvious how to operate surprisingly. Suggest these are provided to help other guests.
